Terms & Conditions

  1. The Grant Call Details, information on Grants, and how to enter the Grant Call, as applicable, form part of these Terms & Conditions. Capitalised terms have the meaning set out in the Grant Call Details and in these Terms & Conditions.

  2. Subject to the Grant Call Details, applicants may only enter or submit an application once.
  1. Awardees will be awarded either the Navigator Award or the Explorer Award of the Grants as set out in the Grant Call Details, not both. The judge’s decision(s) will be final, and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about the Grant Call or the judges’ decision(s).

  1. The Grants are not transferable and not redeemable for cash. The Organizer accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the Grants (or any part of them). The Organizer reserves the right to substitute any Grant (or any part of it) for a service of similar value. Awardee(s) will be notified by the Notification Method.

  1. Awardees are required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, and, where lawful, a publicity release within 14 days after the announcement of the grant results. By executing such documents, Awardees agree to the stipulated timeline that the Organizer (or its affiliates) will draw up for each project. The timeline, which includes stages of the project such as sample submission, sample processing, and return of deliverables, will be discussed with awardees. If any Grant, Grant notification, or other Competition-related communication is returned as undeliverable or if a selected potential awardee cannot be reached or does not respond as instructed after the Organizer has attempted to notify that potential awardee, that selected awardee may be disqualified and an alternate awardee for that grant may be selected (time permitting and in the Organizer’s sole discretion). The Organizer is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, lost, damaged, intercepted, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify the potential awardees(s), or if the potential awardee is under the Minimum Age, for late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts of the potential awardee to provide parental or legal guardian application or form as contemplated by paragraph 6 below.

  1. If applicable, where the selected applicant is under the Minimum Age, that applicant and their parent or guardian may, at the absolute discretion of the Organizer, be required to submit details via an online application and/or execute a deed of release and indemnity in a form prescribed by the Organizer to receive the Grant and/or to be confirmed as the Awardee.

  1. The Organizer and the Awardees agree to keep confidential any non-public information in relation to the services provided with respect to the Grants including but not limited to any technical or pricing information related to the services or Grants.

  1. Awardees shall be solely responsible for procuring and providing the Organizer with the samples required for the proposed research project including the shipping cost. Awardees shall comply with all applicable regulations, laws, ethical guidelines, or contractual obligations associated with the use of the same.

  1. Each Awardee must submit samples of the same tissue type. All samples must be prepared in accordance with the instructions to be provided by the Organizer to the Awardee and pass the sample quality requirements. All samples submitted to the Organizer will not be returned.

  1. To the extent permitted by law, the Organizer makes no representations or warranties as to the quality of the Grants. To the extent permitted by law, the Organizer shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever that may be suffered or caused as a result of participating in the Grant Call or using any Grant.

  1. Each applicant’s personal data will be collected to enable the Organizer to administer and run this Grant Call and to fulfill Grants to the Awardee(s). The personal data of Awardee(s) may be provided to others assisting the Organizer in this regard, including the Grants provider (if any), and to authorities that regulate this Grant Call. Applicants acknowledge and agree that any personal data submitted will be held and used by Organizer (or its affiliates or representatives) solely to administer and fulfill this Grant Call and will otherwise be subject to the  Privacy Policy included in the Grant Call Details. Applicants acknowledge and agree that the Organizer may share and transfer data such as applicants’ personal data with its affiliates or representatives for purposes of administering and fulfilling this Grant Call and complying with applicable laws, regulations, and rules.

  1. The Organizer shall be responsible for the cost of the services to be provided to the Awardees under the Grants only. Any other fees associated with the services that are charged by a third party will be borne by the Awardee (including without limitation transport and/or storage fees of sample or data).

  1. In the event of unsuccessful pre-sequencing procedures in relation to the Grants, Awardee will be informed and if Awardee decides to repeat the procedures, additional charges will apply.

  1. By accepting the Grants, the Awardee understands and agrees:

    • to provide a testimonial after service completion by the Organizer;

    • to include the appropriate acknowledgment of the contribution of the Organizer in any associated publications containing the data generated using the services provided under the Grant Call; and

    • that information on the Awardee (e.g. name, biographical information, likeness, name of institution or company, project title) may be published through social media at the Organizer’s discretion for the purposes of the Grant Call.

  1. The Organizer shall have the right to use all data (or any part of the data) generated in relation to or from the Grant Call for publicity and/or marketing purposes with prior written consent from the applicable Awardee. For the avoidance of doubt, the Organizer shall have the right to use the same for its internal purposes without prior written consent.

  2. The Organizer reserves the right to suspend, modify, cancel, or terminate the Grant Call without any prior notice, including, without limitation, in the event of any act, occurrence, or reason that it believes would compromise the legality, integrity, administration or fairness of the Grant Call.

  3. All operations of the Stereo-seq service will be conducted within the premises of the Organizer (or its affiliates) in Singapore.

  4. Unless otherwise indicated, all services provided by the Organizer in connection with this Grant Call are intended for research purposes only and are not to be used for any other purpose, including without limitation diagnostic or clinical purposes or other unauthorised commercial uses.

  1. By entering the Grant Call, each applicant (and the parent or legal guardian of any entrant under the Minimum Age) represents and warrants that the applicant has read, accepts, and will comply with the Grant Call Details and these Terms & Conditions. Applicants under the Minimum Age require the consent of a parent or legal guardian as a condition of entry into this Grant Call and the parent or legal guardian of the entrant under the Minimum Age, and on behalf of the entrant under the Minimum Age, must read and accept the rules in relation to the Grant Call including without limitation these Terms & Conditions. A breach of this condition will result in the disqualification of the entry. The Organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion to verify the age of any Grant Call applicant or Awardee prior to awarding any Grants and to verify parental or legal guardian consent (where required) prior to delivery or awarding of any Grants and to disqualify any entry which it reasonably believes has been submitted by an entrant under the Minimum Age without the necessary consent of a parent or legal guardian.

  1. Unless otherwise provided herein or with a quotation issued by the Organizer (or its affiliates), the prevailing Terms and Conditions for the sale of MiRXES’ Services found at https://mirxes.com/terms/ shall apply. In the event of any conflict between the Terms and Conditions for sales of MiRXES’ Service and these Terms & Conditions for this Grant Call, these Terms & Conditions shall prevail.

  1. The Grant Call and the applicable terms and conditions, including its validity and interpretation, shall be governed by the laws of Singapore.
